CUT-OFF FOREST

This patch of forest doesn’t really have that name. In fact, it has no name at all — it’s just a wet thicket by National Road 19, too boggy for logging to pay off, and too damp to turn into farmland.

But only for now. The upcoming reconstruction and widening of the road is a sentence for this place. Instead of forest there will be a service road; instead of trees — cars.

All this wildness, left to itself — omitted and forgotten — will disappear.

A pity.
