MARSHES
Marshes are the most interesting places in the Knyszyn Forest. Many of them are protected as nature reserves; others are just ordinary forest compartments where difficult access is the only thing that slows down logging.
Marshes are the forest in its wild form — unconstrained in constant creation and collapse — places where nature erupts into a majestic chaos that never stops amazing me.
There is another side to it, though. The Knyszyn Forest is drying out. Bogs that were nearly impossible to walk through just a few years ago can now be crossed with dry feet. This wildness is under threat and there is less of it each year.
So hurry to love these forest marshes — beautiful oases full of untamed life.
