BIAŁYSTOK GHETTO

I once wrote for “Przekrój” about the memory (or rather the lack of it) of the Białystok ghetto. You can read the article here — I recommend it. While working on the text, I was struck by how hard it is to find places tied to a not-so-distant history within today’s city fabric.

And now these photographs have gained yet another layer — because what I photographed back then has already changed, and some places have disappeared. So this becomes a double document: about contemporary forgetting, and about the city as it was.
